TYW focuses on assisting young women to confront the challenges they face, such as: limited access to decision-making spaces, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS and mentorship opportunities.
Some of our main objectives include:
- Promoting young women’s participation and empowerment in the economic, political and social arenas.
- Reinforcing interventions in the fights against HIV/AIDS and Gender-Based Violence (female genital mutilation, early marriage, sexual harassment in the workplace, sexual exploitation and protection of children, etc.)
- Linking emerging young women with well-seasoned older women who will mentor and coach them, and nurture their leadership skills and other qualities
Our programs champion transformational young women to learn, share their stories, and experiences, while inspiring them to move their ideas beyond local communities, national and out into the world. Emphasis is placed on nurturing and developing young women for local and global leadership and building bridges and a network of solidarity as seasoned women leaders serve as mentors.
